Why Alagoas, Brazil?

Alagoas, Brazil:

  • An estimated 58% of the people in the state live below the national poverty line

  • This state ranks lowest in the nation in illiteracy and employment rates

  • In this area, many essential life needs are difficult for people to attain- even clean water

  • Recent HDI (Human Development Index) measures rank Alagoas in last place compared to all other states in the nation of Brazil

  • The presence of street children and orphans in the state of Alagoas are estimated to be predominantly more than other states

  • Due to a rapid 42.7% population increase in Maceio in the past 25 years, infrastructure was not ready for growth. Thousands suffer without access to plumbing or electricity

Shining a "LUZ" of Hope

Psalm 4:6 that says:

“Many are asking, “Who can show us any good?” Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD.”

Luz Project strives to shine a “LUZ” of hope to the people of this poverty stricken state through distributing clothing, food, and personal hygiene/first-aid items to families in need. More importantly, we focus on illuminating the “LUZ” of Christ by encouraging others to put their faith and hope in Jesus.

Matthew 5:16:

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

2 Corinthians 4:5-6:

“You see, we don’t go around preaching about ourselves. We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.”
