Mission:

1. “Spread the Luz”: Proclaim the Light of Jesus Christ to the world

2. “Share the Luz”: Illuminate the darkness with the love and care of The Lord upon the poor, needy, orphaned and widowed through the distribution of clothes, food, small toys, and personal hygiene/first aid supplies.

3. “Shine the Luz”: Shed light on the struggles of the poverty stricken societies present in much of northeastern Brazil, allowing the world to be impacted and participate in our cause to provide a light to those suffering in darkness.

History:

Luz Project’s roots began as a church construction mission team in 1998 in Murici, Alagoas, Brazil. Over the past 24 years, God has enabled our mission team to assist in the construction of 35 churches while also being involved in several ministries in each of these communities. For the July, 2010 mission trip, “Hope For Brazil” was established as the new name for our ministry. In 2013, a new vision was established for the organization, holding on to the same mission of providing “hope” for those in need. The name was changed to Luz Project, representing our organization’s calling to spread, share, and shine the “Luz” of Christ to Alagoas, Brazil. Luz Project is now more than just a mission trip, focusing on year round ministries, also gaining 501(c)(3) status as a tax exempted non-profit organization.
